Ultra-light Experimental Aircraft Design

Partnering with Mini-MAX USA to design an manufacture an Ultra-light Single-manned Experimental Aircraft!

As a freshman at Miami University (Oxford, OH), I am in the process of founding one of the most ambitious and unique student organizations on campus: the Experimental Aircraft Club. What is often dismissed as an unrealistic dream—designing, engineering, and manufacturing a fully functional aircraft—is becoming a tangible reality for undergraduate students at Miami University.

This organization is not about building a model or running simulations alone; it is about engaging students in the entire engineering lifecycle. From conceptual design and structural analysis to material selection, fabrication, testing, and ultimately flight, members will gain hands-on experience rarely available at the undergraduate level. The Experimental Aircraft Club bridges the gap between theory and practice, allowing students to apply classroom knowledge to a real, safety-critical aerospace system.

Beyond technical skill development, this club cultivates leadership, collaboration, and innovation. Students will work in multidisciplinary teams, manage real engineering constraints, and take ownership of a project that demands precision, accountability, and creativity. By creating this opportunity, I aim to establish a lasting legacy at Miami University—one that empowers students to push boundaries, take calculated risks, and redefine what is possible in undergraduate engineering.

This is more than a club. It is a launchpad for the next generation of aerospace innovators.
